Our expert team of specially-trained health professionals is available to address your problem wounds. They understand the many factors that may delay or prevent the healing of your wounds. With this in mind, the wound healing team performs a complete history and physical exam which allows them to develop an individualized treatment plan unique to your needs.

Many conditions may benefit from advanced wound care, such as diabetes, poor circulation, leg edema, varicose veins, neuropathy, spinal cord injury, stroke, chronic infections, cancer, and those with a history of radiation treatments.

Treatment plans may include some or a combination of the following:

  • Laboratory studies & Vascular studies
  • X-rays
  • Antibiotic therapy
  • Surgical debridement of wounds
  • Physical therapy
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Advanced wound care therapies, such as bioengineered tissue
  • Use of pressure relief techniques, such as seating and positioning
  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Sometimes your wounds will not respond to advanced wound care treatments alone. For some patients, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO) is an effective technology that supplements the other treatment methods used by physicians. During HBO therapy, you are placed in a pressurized chamber where you breathe 100% oxygen. This increases the presence of oxygen within your body and aids in healing the wound and promoting the growth of new tissue.

Hyperbaric oxygen treatment is useful for:

  • Diabetic wounds of the lower extremity
  • Wounds that have not healed in several weeks
  • Post-radiation tissue injury
  • Venous stasis or arterial insufficiency ulcers
  • Crush injuries and compromised grafts and flaps
  • Wounds caused by poor circulation or trauma
  • Pressure ulcers, gangrene and necrotizing soft tissue infections
  • Carbon monoxide poisoning

The York County Center for Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine provides you with a relaxed and comfortable environment during your therapy.

Hyperbaric oxygen treatments occur while you lie comfortably in the chamber. A specially trained technician is at your side at all times to assist you.  You can listen to music, watch TV or nap throughout the therapy.
